CHILDREN’S MINISTRY NEWS … JANUARY 29, 2012

Parents are asked to help their children learn the Memory Verses which they are introduced to during the KIDZONE programs. Past months’ verses will be reinforced at each of the KIDZONE  programs and will be included in the Children’s Sunday program at the end of the year, so it’s important that all children know them.

November’s Memory Verse: “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me”    - Phil 4:13

December’s Memory Verse: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, Rejoice”  - - Phil 4:4

COMING NEXT SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2012:

KIDZONE  WORSHIP - Downstairs in the youth room promptly at 10 a.m.  John Smayda will lead this interactive worship program for children ages 3 through Grade 5. John has a surprise waiting for the children during the Feb. 5th program.

Parents, please help your children learn the Memory Verses taken directly from scripture, which have been introduced in previous KIDZONE programs, reinforced during each of the current KIDZONE  programs and will be presented in June at the Children’s Sunday program.

SUPER SNACK SALE  - The Annual Super Snack Sale will once again be held on the morning of Super Bowl Sunday.  All proceeds will benefit Silver Lake Conference Center.  Please drop donations off in Fellowship Hall before worship.

  • Sunday School families will be notified this week and asked to contribute a snack item to this sale.
  • All Sunday School classes will contribute a donation as well.
  • All are welcome to contribute snack items, by dropping then off in Fellowship Hall before worship.
  • Congregational members are invited to support this special mission “sale” by purchasing snack items after worship.

Our Safe Church Policy calls for the registration of all children attending Sunday School. Sunday School Registration forms may be dropped off in the Sunday School classrooms this morning or handed directly to the Christian Education Director, Dawn Crane.
Blank registration forms are available on the table at the back of the Sanctuary and in the classrooms. Please note that families using our Nursery
during the worship service must register their child in the Nursery room before leaving him/her to be cared for by our childcare volunteers.

Contributions given in these envelopes help support the Sunday School program, offsetting some of the costs associated with providing a rich and varied Sunday School curriculum. Children and their families are invited to joyfully respond throughout the year, supporting this wonderful part of our ministry at Plantsville, both with prayers and financially, as they are able.

Dear friends,

I hope that the information I share with you throughout this monthly forum, will benefit you and your family. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns, ideas or constructive feedback concerning our Sunday School program. You may speak with me on Sunday mornings or call the church office at 860-628-5595 and leave me a message which I will return promptly.

In Christian Service,
Dawn M. Crane; Sunday School Administrator

Your child is missed when he/she is not in Sunday School. Our Sunday School program tries to show our children that God loves them and wants them to serve by helping others.  Each Sunday, as the stories of our faith are explored, another brick is laid upon the foundation of our children’s faith.  I encourage all our families to make Sunday School   attendance a priority, so the children have an opportunity to build a solid foundation of faith, helping them navigate the ebbs and flows of the tides of life.

Sunday School Hall Monitors
A member of the Board of Christian Education will soon be calling homes to recruit “Sunday School Hall Monitor” volunteers to once again help provide a safe environment for our children and leaders on Sunday mornings.  If called, please consider offering one or two Sunday mornings this year to help monitor the church hallways and provide peace of mind.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Our Children’s Ministry program is a beacon of light that shows our children how to serve Christ, live a life that shines for all to see, and reveals the stories of our faith as we learn to walk hand-in-hand with God.

We provide a Sunday School program for children age 3 through grade 12 from 10 a.m to 11:15 on most Sunday mornings.  Our Sr. High School youth gather 2 Sundays a month for Sunday School, participate in worship, assist in other classrooms, and help out with the confirmation class.  In addition, we provide childcare during the worship service for infants and toddlers not old enough to attend Sunday School.

ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO SERVE?

W
e are still looking for 1 or more adult volunteers in the Nursery to help provide tender,
loving care to our little ones during the worship service on Sunday mornings.

Sign up for the weeks you wish to commit to provide coverage.
Commitment required:
                 *
2 Sundays each month
                 *  Arrive 15 minutes prior to the worship service beginning

As mandated by PCCUCC’s Safe Church Policy, all volunteers must have a background check performed prior to working in the Nursery.

Please contact Dawn Crane, Sunday School Administrator, at the Church
Office: (860) 628-5595,
if you are interested in exploring
this rewarding opportunity
to make a difference in the lives of our children and their parents.

REGISTRATION; A SAFE CHURCH PROCESS

Registering the children who attend Sunday School or use our nursery is an important process in our Safe Church Policy. If your child has not been registered, please take the time to complete a registration form and return it to your child’s teacher at the beginning or end of class this morning.

Blank registration forms are available on the table at the back of the Sanctuary and may also be requested of the Sunday School teachers in the classrooms.

Please note that families using our Nursery during the worship service must register their child in the Nursery room
before leaving him/her to be cared for by our childcare volunteers.

The Board of Christian Education encourages all our children and youth to bring their bibles to Sunday School each week!
