SOUTHINGTON COMMUNITY SERVICES
An urgent message from Janet Mellon and Eldon Hafford:
"The food pantry shelves are bare. Bread for Life and Southington Community Services are spending between $1,500 - $2,000 per month at Food Share and cannot keep up with the demand.

We are looking for cereal, meat (tuna, chicken, Spam, etc.), pasta, pasta sauce, children's snacks.  We would appreciate any donations."
Please help if you are able.

Bread for Life

For Individuals and Families Southington, CT (May 26, 2009) -
Beginning June 25, 2009, Bread for Life will begin to offer an evening meal program on Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Friendship Hall located in the back of the Masonic Temple at 76 Main Street.  This program will be open to Southington individuals and families who qualify.  "We will use the same qualification guidelines that Food Share uses when they distribute food and same one we use for our lunch program," said Executive Director, Eldon Hafford.  "Basically, it's income verification and proof of residency.  They are easy to comply with.  Applications will be provided at the door."

Bread for Life is very aware that, in this volatile economy families are struggling to put food on the table.  This program will offer a nutritious hot meal and provide a setting for families to come together to eat an evening meal," stated Hafford. "Many in our community are working during the day and are unable to take advantage of our noon lunch program. BY opening our doors in the evening, we are expanding the number of people we are able to assist."

"We are requesting that people make a reservation for the first few weeks until we can get a handle on how many people to expect to prepare meals for on a weekly basis.  Please contact Bread for Life at (860) 276-8389 with any questions or to make a reservation."
